Prototype Description - Overview

The LRM Immersion team recommends that the Forest Service consider adding this module - based on the constructivist learning environment of a cognitive tele-apprenticeship - to the Forest Service (FS) and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) course: American Indian Rights and Claims PRLS 648. The module would be an extention of the proposed undergraduate/graduate level online course. The space provides students an area to practice authentic decision making with the help and guidance of virtual expert managers, and live online instructors, skilled in facilitating online learning.

Students, mainly FS and BLM employees hoping to advance their management careers, will begin at Level 1 and will progress to Level 3. At each level, the sequence will take them through the five phases of the module:

1) In the News;
2) Expert's View;
3) Your Turn - Collaborative Decision Making;
4) Case Analysis - Colleague Feedback; and
5) Personal Reflections

Employees receive college credit for completing the entire course, and this module represents a part of that. Their postings are maintained in their personnel records and can be used for making advancement decsions.
